This is a beautiful engraving by Jean Cocteau representing Oedipus Rex ( Oedipus the King) from the Opera of the same name. Oedipus Rex was an Opera by Igor Stravinsky premiered in 1927, the Libreto based on Sophocles's tragedy was written by Jean Cocteau.
This is an etching signed and dated 1952 on the plate.

Jean Cocteau was a French artist, writer (Les Enfants Terribles,...), designer, playwright and filmmaker (Beauty and the Beast 1946, ... ).
